Shocking dash cam footage shows the moment Mercedes veers into the A19 fast lane ‘out of nowhere’

A mum has recalled the moment her children turned ‘white as a sheet’ when a Mercedes veered dangerously into the A19 fast lane into oncoming traffic.

Nearby vehicles were able to brake quickly and drive around the car overtaking the central area of ​​the road.

Sarah Williamson was traveling in her family motorhome near Northallerton on Friday night where the shocking incident took place.

Sarah said: “We were coming down the A19 near Northallerton around 4.12pm on Friday afternoon, the roads were quite busy with everyone heading home and of course because it was halfway through.

“We saw a black Mercedes that came out of nowhere in a very small space, it came through the fast lane and honestly I have no idea how it got there.

Sarah explained that the driver of the Mercedes seemed ‘calm and collected’ as he veered dangerously through traffic at 70mph, he also had a female passenger in the car with him.

She added: “A few cars had to swerve and slam on the brakes, it was so dangerous!

“My kids in the back were as white as a sheet and so nervous I was so shaken up and called the police right away. If we were in the car instead of the van he would have hit us , we were on the outside lane at 60 mph, luckily we avoided it.”

Sarah immediately reported the incident to North Yorkshire Police. Teesside live have also approached the force for more information.

The camera in Sarah’s motorhome was able to capture the whole incident.

Sarah said: “After going into the fast lane he tried to back into the fast lane behind, I really don’t know what he was trying to do but it could have been a lot worse.”
