Road Rage driver’s dash cam catches him savagely shooting another driver – Crime Online

A Florida man is facing multiple charges after a road rage incident last summer in which his own dashcam caught him aimlessly firing nearly a dozen rounds at another driver.

Florida talk show tip Andy Slater obtained the video, which shows 30-year-old Eric Popper pulling a gun from his center console and waiting for the other driver to pull up beside him. Then he opens fire at random through the windows of his own car, firing 11 shots, including several with his eyes apparently closed.

The Florida Highway Patrol said the Popper opened fire because they believed the other driver had fired first, WPLG reported.

In truth, the other driver, who has not been named, threw a water bottle at Popper’s car after Popper cut him off on busy Interstate 95 just before 7 a.m. on the 21st. June 2021. The other driver, who had no weapon, honked his horn, prompting Popper to yell, “Oh, f*** off” and then slam on his brakes.

Investigators said the other driver briefly hounded Popper, gesturing obscenely out the window as Popper fumbled with his center console to retrieve his weapon. Then he waits for the other driver to pull over and start shooting, first through the passenger window and then through the front windshield. The other driver was not hit, but his car was.

The two drivers pulled over shortly after and called 911.

The state Highway Patrol investigated — Popper voluntarily turned over his dashcam video for the investigation — and charged Popper with multiple counts, including aggravated assault with a firearm. He surrendered to authorities on July 21 and later retreated. His next hearing is scheduled for April 28, according to court records.

Popper was a civilian fire inspector for the city of Miami Beach, but quit shortly after the road rage incident, WPLG reported.
