Manchester United interim manager Ralf Rangnick had the perfect response when asked to sign Jules Kounde, Declan Rice and Erling Haaland this summer. Check it out below.
Rangnick is expected to take on a ‘consultant’ role at the end of this campaign and one supporter hopes he will be involved in recruiting players.
While meeting fans after Saturday’s 0-0 draw with Watford, Rangnick was asked about Sevilla defender Jules Kounde, West Ham United midfielder Declan Rice and Borussia Dortmund striker Erling Haaland .
“There are three big names there in the summer. Kounde, Rice and Haaland,” a fan told him.
The 63-year-old asked for the names to be repeated and after hearing them again he replied: “What, are you dreaming?” while everyone burst out laughing.
Kounde is highly rated in Spain and came close to joining Chelsea last year.
Rice has established himself as one of the best midfielders in the Premier League and is a regular West Ham captain.
The England international has been valued at nearly £100m by current boss David Moyes and United have looked to the past.
Signing one of them would be huge for United, but all three? It would be a game changer.
At least Rangnick isn’t letting everyone get carried away.
United are still in a close battle for the top four and losing points at home to struggling Watford will be a blow.
Cristiano Ronaldo hit the post in the first half and had the ball in the back of the net, but it was correctly ruled offside.
Anthony Elanga had his best chance of the second half but put his effort away.
United are fourth and two points clear of the chasing pack, but sixth-placed Arsenal are three games behind.
Bruno Fernandes captained United with Harry Maguire rested and he told MUTV: “As I’ve said many times, we lost points for the third [position]that’s the main point for us, we could get closer to them.
“But now is not the time to start thinking about how many points we should have or how many points we will have at the end, we have to look to the next game.”
