Naugatuck Police Release Dash Cam Images Showing Officer Hit By Fleeing Truck | Connecticut News

NAUGATUCK, CT (WFSB) – Naugatuck Police released images from a dash camera that captured moments when an officer was struck by a fleeing truck.

The incident happened on November 4, around 4 p.m., on South Main Street, also known as Route 63.

Lt. Mark Pettinicchi sustained serious injuries when he was run over by a drug suspect fleeing from police.

Three people were arrested and identified as Stanton Ragar Trent, 29, Francis Ibell, 49, and Asia Shynise Paulin, 25. More than 50 offenses have been identified among the suspects.

An officer was seriously injured when he was run over by a drug suspect in Naugatuck on Thursday.

The suspects were wanted for suspected shoplifting from Walmart on New Haven Road.

As they tried to escape the police, they ended up passing through a construction area where Pettinicchi was directing traffic.

The truck drove through the area and struck Pettinicchi in the process.

The video shows Pettinicchi hit by the truck, which then takes off.

Pettinicchi did not sustain any life-threatening injuries, but suffered a fractured left ankle, a fractured right tibia and a fractured right ankle.

He was only recently released to begin to recover from his injuries and numerous surgeries at home, police said.

Naugatuck officer hit by fleeing suspect's car out of hospital

WATERBURY, CT (WFSB) – An officer injured in the line of duty has been released from the hospital.

The suspects fled the scene and drove through several towns, including Waterbury, Wolcott and ultimately Middlebury, where the car was pulled over on I-84.

Police pulled out the dashcam in hopes of identifying people inside a silver SUV from the crash, possibly a tribute to Mazda.
