Dash Cam Footage Captures the Nissan 350Z Crashing and Rolling in a Street Race

Friends, it’s time to remember the stupidity of street racing. Engaging in such antics on the public highway is never a good idea, but driving on the shoulder of a busy California freeway during rush hour? There’s no way this is going to end well.

And you know what? It didn’t end well for the Nissan 350Z driver in this video. Posted recently by ViralHog, the accident The accident happened on June 29 in El Sobrante, California. It’s a suburb of Oakland to the north of the city, and thanks to the magic of Google Maps, we can tell you that the accident happened precisely on I-80 westbound, just past the Solano Avenue. Provided the GPS data on the dash cam video is accurate, we can also say it happened at 5:38 p.m. local time, right in the middle of rush hour.

The video begins with the camera car approaching the overpass. A few seconds later, we see a sports car pass over his right shoulder, but it’s already too late. The driver has lost control, and as the car slides down the highway, we see the unmistakable profile of a 350Z, narrowly missing three cars while turning into four lanes of traffic. That’s when the second car appears in flight on the left, and it’s also easily identifiable thanks to its distinctive black roof, rear fascia and black wheels. It’s the Toyota Camry TRD that develops 301 horsepower thanks to its 3.5-liter V6 engine.

According to the video description, both cars were racing. Whether it’s a speed contest or some sort of infamous hunt, it’s impossible to tell. It doesn’t matter either, as the Nissan hit the interior barrier hard enough to topple over on its roof, losing parts all the way down the highway while sliding through traffic. Considering the time of day, it’s fortunate that there aren’t more cars on the road, and from what we can see in the video, the damage was limited to the 350Z. The camera car continued, with the video ending shortly after passing the carnage.

As for the driver of the Nissan, we have no word on injuries or if there was a passenger in the car. The description of the video indicates that the driver fled the scene, so if there were injuries, apparently they were not too serious. As for the driver of the Camry, there is also no word on what happened there.

This melee could have ended much worse. My friends, stay safe and if you feel the need for speed, fix those issues on the trail.
