With the COVID-19 pandemic, many have chosen not to fly and opt for road trips to get their travel fix. When it comes to driving to your destination, there are certain accessories that one needs for a comfortable cruise. The phone mounts provide an easy hands-free experience when using a cellular device as a GPS; cooler bags are useful for keeping food and drinks cool; and even underrated items like a blanket to keep warm or to use for an impromptu picnic come in handy. And for these scenic tours, you’ll need something to capture it all. For the person in your life who prefers to travel by car, here are the top 10 useful gifts to buy this year.

Whether you’re driving in a state (like California) where it’s illegal to hold a cell phone while driving, a holder for your smartphone is always a good idea. Most of us use our devices like a GPS, even when we have an in-car system, and these reliable accessories contribute to a hands-free experience. For those looking for a dashboard and windshield option, iOttie’s Easy One Touch 5 has always been rated among the best. The stand has a telescopic arm that can extend to a foot and a half, a secure suction cup, and an easy-to-use locking and unlocking mechanism. This latest version also has a magnetic cord organizer to store a charging cable when not in use. If you prefer something with Qi wireless charging and automated clamping technology, check out the Auto Sense.

For something a lot more compact or if you’d rather have nothing obstruct your view, the Kenu Airframe Pro is a real winner. The small ventilation rack is easy to store and switch between cars, which is especially important if you are renting. It has an extra wide handle to support larger phones as well as a tilt and swivel joint that allows you to adjust it to the perfect angle. The company also offers Airframe Wireless for fast Qi charging if you don’t want to worry about your low battery level.

GoPro has been a leader in action cameras and their latest, the Hero10 Black, can shoot super smooth video up to 5.3K. But besides using it on your adventures, the device can also double as a dash cam. And with the company’s GoPro Labs software, users can take advantage of USB power triggers that automatically start and stop capturing when plugged in. To make it a successful gift for a traveler on the road, get the suction cup accessory so that it can be mounted on a dashboard or windshield to capture that beautiful scenic drive. It will even work for motorcyclists thanks to its industrial grade suction that can handle speeds of up to 150 mph. While you’re at it, also consider purchasing the 3-Way Grip 2.0 so your loved ones have a tripod to use when making a pit stop at a scenic point.

Both hard and hard coolers are difficult to store, which is why YETI’s hopper is an ideal choice. The soft cooler is perfectly sized to fit the backseat for easy access and is made of a high density material that is tough as nails. The bag features incredible insulation the brand is loved for, as well as its HydroShield magnetic strip for a tight, leak-resistant seal. It also has several attachment points in case you want to bring a bottle opener.

If you’re trying to entertain and calm the kids in the backseat, then a tablet is a sure-fire way. To make sure they don’t put the screen too close to their face or to share one between two or three of them, a stand will do. iKross makes one that fits just about any headrest and will fit most 7-12 inch iPads and tablets. The adjustable arm can move up and down as well as side to side so everyone has a desirable viewing experience.

If you are looking to capture your memories in a more retro way, Fujifilm Instax instant cameras are a great choice. The Square SQ1 has a more streamlined look and is slimmer than the odd-shaped mini, and is available in more sophisticated colors like chalk white and terracotta orange. It also prints slightly larger photos on square film and the results are almost instantaneous. You will also find a selfie mode on the device which will make taking pictures of yourself much easier.

When you are sharing a car with others, there are times when you might need a little time for me. To drown everyone out, these Bose headphones have arguably the best noise-canceling technology out there when it comes to true wireless headphones. They also offer excellent sound quality and this latest iteration has a more comfortable and secure fit than its predecessor. This will last up to six hours and the case provides two additional charges. They are also sweat and water resistant with an IPX4 rating.

For coffee lovers who won’t get their cup of coffee other than the way they brew it themselves, the Aeropress Go Travel coffee press makes it easy to get around. This handy little instrument is both easy to use and easy to clean, and brews approximately eight ounces of java. This particular version includes a plastic cup, in which all the pieces collapse perfectly, so you won’t need to bring an extra one. If you want to pair this gift with a grinder, the Java Coffee Grinder from VSSL not only looks good, but also offers 50 different grind settings and a stainless steel burr for even, smooth grind.

Scenic routes often require impromptu stops to take in the views. Whether it’s taking a break for a picnic or just enjoying the sunset, you’ll need something to sit on so you don’t get your clothes dirty. Matador makes some really smart accessories and one of them is their Pocket Blanket. Although it’s super thin, it’s made from a puncture and water resistant nylon that will stand up to all the rough elements. It also has built-in and attached corner stakes so you can secure it to the ground as well as weighted corners. Guides are sewn into the blanket, making it easy to fold into its built-in pocket. And with its compactness and lightness, it won’t be a problem to take it with you on a trip.

On long road trips, you absolutely want to be comfortable, and a super silky blanket will definitely make the trip more enjoyable. Eco-friendly brand Buffy makes their Puffer blanket with a blend of recycled polyester and eucalyptus that is extremely soft and spill and stain resistant. In addition, the four beautiful colors it contains are the result of water-saving and chemical-free dyes. Use it to snuggle up in the car or maybe for the aforementioned picnic with the Matador pocket blanket.

How the police justify the killings at traffic stops: “The car was a weapon” https://ng2100.com/how-the-police-justify-the-killings-at-traffic-stops-the-car-was-a-weapon/ Sat, 06 Nov 2021 21:59:41 +0000 https://ng2100.com/how-the-police-justify-the-killings-at-traffic-stops-the-car-was-a-weapon/ Create their own danger In November 2020, Deputy Jafet Santiago-Miranda of the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office searched for a stolen car in Cocoa, Florida. In November 2020, Deputy Jafet Santiago-Miranda of the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office searched for a stolen car in Cocoa, Florida. He spotted a similar vehicle, which pulled into a driveway, then backed up. The deputy left her patrol car and stood in front of the car, then fired 10 times as she walked slowly, dash camera video shows.

The driver, AJ Crooms, 16, and a passenger, Sincere Pierce, 18, who planned to go out with a friend, were dead. Authorities later said the vehicle was not the stolen car. (As in several other cases, guns were later found in or near the car, but they played no part in the confrontation.)

Last April, Deputy Nolan Davis of the Delta County Sheriff’s Office in Colorado attempted to stop a white Honda without license plates. The driver ran away and ended up crushing “stop sticks” placed by another assistant, which punctured the Honda’s tires. As the car attempted to maneuver between Deputy Davis’ patrol truck and a white truck, he got out of his car on the way to the Honda, body camera footage. Assistant Davis backed off, firing eight times, even after the Honda passed him. Paige Pierce, 26, was deceased.

The driver “was about to hit me,” Deputy Davis told his supervisor. “I had no choice, Sergeant.”

Deputy Davis later said that when he got out of his patrol truck he thought the driver may have gotten out of the Honda and “may have stopped to flee on foot,” according to one. district attorney review.

Neither deputy lost their job or faced criminal charges.

In dozens of fatal cases over the past five years, officers have responded similarly, jumping in front of vehicles or not straying away.

Such decisions are dangerous for motorists and officers. In the past five years, three officers who leaned inside vehicles during stops were killed when drivers took off. Six others were hit by vehicles they were facing, such as Amy Caprio, a Baltimore County policewoman who was killed in May 2018 after responding to a call from a suspicious vehicle linked to a burglary.

Tesla offered a Sentry mode – aka his version of a dash cam – for quite some time now, and it has proven to be very popular with Tesla owners. More recently, the company promised that owners would be able to get a live view of their vehicle’s cameras in Sentry mode through the Tesla app, and now, according to a report released Wednesday by Electrek, that’s happening – only there is a catch.

There is always a catch, right? In this case, this new feature of access to the live camera in Sentry mode is offered as part of the Premium Connectivity package for a subscription of $ 10 per month. Premium connectivity debuted in 2018 and provides access to useful features such as live traffic display, satellite viewing maps, and music and video streaming. It also gives access to less useful things like “Caraoke”.

The launch of Sentry Mode Live Camera Access is part of a software update to version 2021.36.8. Tesla says the video stream is secure via end-to-end encryption and that Tesla himself cannot access the footage.

At the time of publication, this feature is only available for iOS users of the Tesla app, but we strongly believe that Android users will not be left behind for long.

SANDERSVILLE, Georgia – After two full days of deliberations, jurors in the trial of three former Georgia sheriff’s deputies accused of murdering a man by electrocuting him with stun guns have returned home without making a decision.

Earlier Monday, jurors sent a note to Senior Judge H. Gibbs Flanders Jr. advising him that they were deadlocked after reviewing all the evidence.

They resumed their deliberations after Flanders called them into the courtroom and read them a special indictment urging them to avoid a suspended jury and an overturned trial. Known as the Allen Charge, the request urges the jury to reach consensus and asks members of the minority to reconsider their position.

“Your duty is to decide on the questions that have been put to you, if you can do so conscientiously,” said Flanders.

The first incident happened on Castle Street, where a man fought for his life after he tried to intervene in an argument between a group of friends.

The victim is believed to have been attempting to broadcast a heated argument before being assaulted by a lone man near Castle Street Townhouse.

His attacker would then have gone to the courthouse of Queen Elizabeth II.

At approximately 9:15 p.m. on Saturday 23 October, emergency services were called to Castle Street to report that a man was unconscious on the ground after being assaulted by another man.

Man remains in critical condition after Castle Street assault

The victim was seriously injured in the head and his condition is described as critical.

He is currently being treated at Aintree hospital. Merseyside Police appeal for witnesses.

Detective Inspector Michelle Wilson said: “The 24-year-old victim is believed to have been attempting to intervene in an argument to prevent any potential violence and was subsequently assaulted herself.

“We understand that the offender was in Castle Street Town House just prior to this incident and was kicked off the premises after becoming involved in an argument with a group of friends.

“Forensic examinations are currently underway at the scene and we will be looking at the CCTV of the area, but I would also like to appeal to anyone who was in the area and has any information, or cell phone footage / dash camera that might be able to help our investigation move forward.

“We are calling on anyone with information to get back to us as soon as possible. If you are a driver who was in the Castle Street area at the time of the incident around 9:15 p.m., please let us know if you have any footage. dashcams that could help advance our investigation. “

The second incident happened at 3:24 a.m. on Sunday, when a man was found on a downtown street with a head injury after being assaulted.

A special agent who was on patrol encountered the 20-year-old man on Wood Street just after he was attacked.

The officer then spotted a man fleeing from the scene and pursued him before arresting him on suspicion of assault.

A photo taken by an eyewitness around 4 a.m. shows a cordon in place at the junction of Back Berry Street and Wood Street.

The witness, who asked to remain anonymous, said he saw a “guy on the ground” at the scene.

The victim was taken to hospital where he is currently being treated for a head injury.

Police arrested a 25-year-old man, from Belle Vale, who was taken to a police station where he was questioned by detectives and he was released under investigation.

In the third incident, a man lost consciousness after challenging someone to urinate outside a pub.

In the early hours of Sunday, officers were called by paramedics attending to the seriously injured 57-year-old man outside the Bird I’th Hand Pub on Prescot Road in Grange Park, St Helens.

Police said the man was assaulted outside the pub after leaving with his wife and two friends when he confronted a man urinating outside.

The man urinating then became aggressive and hit the victim on the head, causing him to pass out, police said.

He was taken to hospital where he is currently being treated and his condition is described as serious but stable.

Officers are reviewing CCTV footage and have conducted investigations in the area in an effort to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Detective Inspector Steve McGrath said: “Our investigation into this incident is continuing and we remain very keen to speak with anyone with any information that may assist us in our investigations.

“The victim was leaving the pub with his wife and two friends when he remonstrated with a man urinating outside, the man then became aggressive and hit the victim on the head, causing him to pass out.

“Prescot Road is a very busy road in and out of St Helens and I urge anyone in the area just after midnight this morning who may have seen the incident, or have pictures or information phone / dashcam, who could help us with our inquiries to get in touch.

“Many buses also use this route, so I would like to call any bus passengers who may have seen the incident come forward, as the information they have could be vital to our investigations.”

A thief destroyed a car windshield and then used his ill-gotten gains to buy just £ 30 worth of scratch cards.

Chris Needler, 30, and his partner Callum learned of the theft when they saw the damage to their vehicle in the early hours of Friday morning.

The car had been parked on Ancaster Avenue overnight Thursday when the thief smashed the driver’s side window, escaping with a wallet stowed in the driver’s side door.

The thief had ignored a satellite navigation system, an expensive sound system, an iPod touch and a dash cam – and instead rushed to a local Tesco to buy just £ 30 worth of scratch cards.

The car owner saw that the transaction was completed when he verified his account and was paid by contactless payment.

Chris Friday Temporary Fix

Chris’s partner Callum said: “Chris works hard and long hours, it wasn’t that long ago that he finished paying the finances by paying extra on the car.

“He is proud to keep his car in the best condition.

“Because of the amount insurance would charge and the loss of no claims and rising premiums, he has to pay a new window out of his own pocket.

“He had to take a day off to call to find a new window because until he did, he couldn’t drive the car.

“We were supposed to go out with his grandparents tonight who are almost 90 years old and they are counting on Chris to replace them.

“This had to be canceled for safety reasons. The replacement and installation of the window is going to be very expensive.”

After smashing the window of Chris’s car, the thief fled with a Vivienne Westwood green checkered wallet with black trim and black button clasp concealed in the driver’s side door compartment.

Callum said the wallet had more sentimental value to Chris than monetary value inside.

He was quick to block his cards after discovering the heist.

Content included his driver’s license, memorabilia from the couple’s vacation, receipts for important goods and photos of dogs.

Callum said: “He is devastated, furious and saddened that all the inconvenience and damage came for £ 30 in scratch cards.

“Tesco Bricknell Avenue was very helpful and helped me out when I walked into the store. They are keenly aware of the guy’s appearance and have clear CCTV of him using Chris’s card to purchase them. scratch cards.

“The card was used at 9:30 p.m., so Chris’s car burglary would have occurred shortly before that. This is a prime example of why contactless limits should be set by the account holder and not by the banks.

“Chris had to ring and cancel all of his cards that were in his wallet and has now requested a contactless card.”

A road rage shootout early Monday that left one dead would have been a “gang-type” shooting, Clark County Sheriff Joe Lombardo told the Review-Journal on Thursday.

“We think it was a gang type shootout, this road rage incident,” he said. “We have witnesses saying they were flashing gang signs before the shooting.”

Thirty-two percent of all metro homicides are associated with gang activity, Lombardo said, adding that it was a priority for the Metropolitan Police Department. Police previously said road rage, which has claimed at least three lives in Las Vegas this year, was a factor in Monday’s shooting.

Shots rang out at 2:20 a.m. as two cars drove side by side on the 215 Beltway near the McCarran Airport connector, killing a man driving a vehicle and seriously injuring a female passenger, Lt. David Valenta said . journalists Monday.

The man was later identified by the Clark County Coroner’s Office as Glen Anthony Card, 27, of Las Vegas. A woman who was also hit by gunfire was taken to the university medical center in “critical but stable” condition, police said.

Police were still searching for answers on Wednesday, when Valentina urged anyone with information to come forward in a video posted to Metro’s Twitter page.

“We are asking drivers who may have seen what led to the shooting, or who have a dash cam and were traveling on this stretch of road between 2:15 and 2:25 a.m. to call the section of LVMPD homicides, ”he added. he said.

The last confirmed gang-related murder, according to records on file with the Review-Journal, occurred on May 5, apparently in retaliation for another homicide on April 30.

Christopher Najera, who was charged with murder on June 21, was arrested in connection with the death of Tyreon Jackson, 25, who was shot and killed on his way home in the 3500 block of East Lake Mead Boulevard, near from Pecos Road. According to Najera’s arrest report, he was involved in a shootout between two groups on April 30 that injured Najera and killed his friend Noel Carbajal, 17.

Jackson was shot in retaliation for the shooting that killed Carbajal, police said. Ryk Mosley, 28, of North Las Vegas, was arrested on May 28 in connection with Carbajal’s death.

There have been at least three gang-related murders before this this year, with the first taking place on New Years Eve, records show.

“Social media has had a significant influence on gang activity, especially in retaliation,” Lombardo said in August. “Because of the fact that people speak badly of others, and this has caused a significant number of people to react to it. “
