The incident happened last month, on September 21, near the Jackson Park neighborhood in the south of the city. At one point in the video, viewers see someone falling off a bicycle. The medical team also added that they saw a man fall to the ground as the shooters passed in a black Infiniti Q50 sedan. Doctors believed the man had been shot, so they rushed in, turned around in the street and rushed to his aid. Fortunately, the man was not hit by any bullets, but just hit the ground after dodging the gunfire. No injuries have been reported and the shooters of the black Infiniti have yet to be arrested.

MedEx released a statement after the incident. They wrote:

“On September 21, a MedEx ambulance was on its way to a call when it heard multiple gunshots nearby in Jackson Park – City of Chicago. As the ambulance passed through the park, a vehicle passed with two dangling subjects through the windows on either side of the car.

The individuals fired at least 5 shots in the direction of the ambulance and the crew. The EMT driving the ambulance brought the vehicle to a safe stop in the middle of heavy traffic as the suspects continued firing.

“Our main concern is the safety of the crew, but the team put their safety aside and went to help someone else,” said general manager Michael Pieroni.

The EMT and his paramedic partner observed a man fall to the ground as the shooters moved past him. Believing he had been shot, the crew rushed to the man and determined that he had not been shot, but rather had fallen off his bicycle, trying to get away from the bullets flying.

“Although no one was seriously injured in this incident, it illustrates the dangers that EMS providers face on a daily basis.” The Chicago Police Department is investigating.
