Not long ago the release of iPhone 14, again Rumors about the iPhone 15 are already pouring in. Perhaps the biggest leak is that the large and small high-end models will be distinctly different and a new rumor reveals another feature that will set the two apart.
The only essential differences between the 6.1-inch iPhone 14 Pro and the The 6.7-inch iPhone 14 Pro Max is that the latter has a more robust battery and a bigger screen. Rumors are gaining momentum that next year’s top-of-the-line 6.7-inch model will be positioned as a truly premium product and to get that message across, Apple is reportedly calling it the iPhone 15 Ultra.
So what feature set will differentiate the iPhone 15 Pro and 15 Ultra?
Some rumors have suggested that only the iPhone 15 Ultra will be equipped with a periscope lens for enhanced optical zoom. Today, tipster Majin Bu
who is known for leaking Apple accessories, posted on Twitter that their source told them the iPhone 15 Ultra would have dual front cameras.
It doesn’t do anything on the second sensor but speculates it might allow for a wider zoom range. Either way, this would be the first time Apple has equipped a phone with two selfie cameras.
It’s best to take this bit with a healthy dose of skepticism because, firstly, Apple already upgraded the 12MP front camera this year with a wider aperture to let in more light and autofocus, and since we know that the company isn’t too generous with new features, it’s hard to believe that the main selfie shooter will be accompanied by another next year,
Other than that, the iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max have moved from notch to pill-shaped and circular cutouts this year and most rumors suggest that the company will keep the same configuration for next year.
Majin Bu also said that the iPhone 15 Ultra will have a USB-C port, but that presumably applies to all models. It also says the Ultra will start with a 256GB storage boost, while the base iPhone 15 Pro will continue to offer 128GB of storage.
Mark Gurman also said yesterday that the Pro Max will be rebranded as the Ultra next year and added that it will sport a new design. Before that, it was rumored that the iPhone 15 Ultra would be more expensive and might offer better video recording
capabilities and longer battery life.
So whether or not the rumor of dual selfie cameras materializes, it seems highly likely that next year’s lineup will consist of the iPhone 15, 15 Plus, 15 Pro, and 15 Ultra.
